To know who a digital marketer is we need to know exactly what digital marketing is. According to Wikipedia "Digital marketing is the component of marketing that utilizes internet and online based digital technologies such as desktop computers, mobile phones and other digital media platforms to promote products and services."
Suma Mathew is a Government employee who has a Facebook account and Instagram account. She clicks photos wherever she goes and uploads them on these account for her friends to see and comment. She also tags her friends in the photos. She enjoys seeing the number of likes going up and is eager to read and reply to the comment on her posted photos.
Suma is a typical example of an unknown beginner digital marketer. If you ask her about her profession and interests, she would never ever say digital marketing or internet marketing as her profession or interests but unknowingly she is initialising her digital marketing skills. By tagging her friends, she is increasing the reach of her photos. (The impact and techniques of Tags and tagging will be explained in the next blog). By the likes she is reaching out or she is showing her photos and receiving appreciation for her photo from those many people across the globe sitting at her home which otherwise is physically impossible. Digital marketing is for such people and by polishing and fine tuning these skills to advanced levels anyone can become a successful digital marketer. Digital marketing unlike all the other types of marketing is not a third-party marketing wherein we would need a third person or mediator to advertise our products.
Hence to conclude all the above points we can say that a successful digital marketer is one who posts their products and services on the internet with the same passion of posting their own pictures on social media and then waiting for the likes and comments on them . One can post their products and services in various platforms of the internet which also will be discussed in the later blogs.
